Major Instant Messaging client, IM+, BeejiveIM and AIM now support Push Notification. Push notifications require the 3.0 firmware that was released last week.

Instant messaging apps always lacked this feature on iPhone and iPod Touch. Before release of iPhone 3.0, if we were to switch out of these apps, there was no easy way for the applications to notify you of an incoming message. Although, IM+ provided not-so-Push, which used to send you an email notification of IMs to make the absence of real Push better!

There has been reports from CNBC that Steve Jobs has resumed work at Apple today! There has been a quote from Jobs on the Apple Press Release on iPhone 3G S sales figure on it’s launch

Jim Goldman of CNBC, however, is able to confirm his presence on Apple’s campus according to multiple employees.

Apple today addressed the issue with the release of MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.7, which allows the new MacBook Pros to utilize the full 3.0 Gbps interface.

MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.7 addresses an issue reported by a small number of customers using drives based on the SATA 3Gbps specification with the June 2009 MacBook Pro. While this update allows drives to use transfer rates greater than 1.5Gbps, Apple has not qualified or offered these drives for Mac notebooks and their use is unsupported.

Full details on the update are located in the associated support document, and instructions for installing the update are included in the update application package. The update weighs in at 3.35 MB and requires OS X 10.5.7.

A benchmark test performed by AnandTech between iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, Palm Pre and G1 to see which of the three was the fastest in app launch and web rendering.

AnandTech found a 122% speed improvment on web performance by iPhone 3G s over it’s predecessor and around 22.6% improvment in the 3G S over Palm Pre in same test. iPhone 3G S was also ahead of the race in app launching with 14-72% improvements over the iPhone 3G.

The The Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently underwent a liver transplant. Jobs has been on a leave of absence from the company since January, and the report says that the transplant about two months ago in an undisclosed hospital in Tennessee.

This results in a median wait of 48 days for a liver transplant. Why Jobs needed a liver transplant, which’s possibly associated with his pancreatic cancer from 2004. The five-year survival rate for all liver transplants is around 75 percent.

This app is as simple as the name ‘iSeeklaw’ is. It is extremely easy to use. All you need to do is fill in a simple form as to which area you want the attorney. Then select the field from the various options such as criminal, personal, real estate and so on. Once done, there are sub options like Personal-car accidents, medical malpractice etc. Finally you can search for legal assistance in your area or fill in the lawyer details in the form such as name, age, work experience, which isn’t advisable since too many filters do not give too many options or any options at all for the chosen area. The best way would be to select “search for all” options instead of the heavy filters.

Here’s how you can create a bootable USB Stick (Avoid creating DVD, it’s very slow as we tested)

Follow these steps after you have downloaded the Install Max OS X file from Mac App Store (or from any other source).

Step 1: Go to the downloaded file called “Install Mac OS X” app downloaded via the Mac App Store, right click on the icon and click on “Show Package Contents”.

Step 2: Open folder ‘Content’ > ‘SharedSupport‘. Copy the DMG file to your desktop.

Step 3: Open Disk Utility

Step 4: Insert a 4 GB or more USB Stick to your Mac and Select the USB Stick in Disk Utility. Click on ‘Image‘ button and navigate to your desktop where you earlier copied the DMG file from Step 2.

Step 5: Drag and drop your USB drive to Destination text box and click on Restore button.

Step 6: When restore is complete, Restart your Mac Press and Hold the Alt key after the startup sound. Hold Alt key until you see a bootmenu and select the USB drive to boot.

The problem was” Leopaard [sic]”. Could Steve Jobs have mistyped Leopard on his iPhone when the wrong spellings are corrected by the autocorrectors? The error would have crept through. Even in the developer preview, there’s a way to do a clean install of Lion: create a blank partition, format it as HFS+, and tell the installer to install Lion there.

But now Apple has got a better way to clean install Lion and a new system is given out. There are many methods to do it. Making people keep their Snow Leopard discs around — or buy two separate Apple operating systems in order to perform a clean install of one of them. Apple’s moving Lion to the Mac App Store to get rid of optical discs.

After the disaster in Japan, a Japanese company has come up with a new way of charging mobile devices while heating a pot of water over a campfire. It is a new method for saving energy resources and utilizing a source which is simple and most of them use it in their day to day life.

The Hatsuden-nabe thermo-electric cookpot turns the heat from the boiling water into electricity which is fed through a USB port into the mobile devices. Heat from this can charge radios, flashlights, music players and others if they have a USB port. It takes almost 3-5 hours to charge a device.

It started off when TES New-Energy, a company in western city of Osaka made and sold a gadget in Japan for 24,150 yen or $299. It has many uses to save energy, a way to survive in places which have very less electricity supply, or for back ups in places which have been affected by a disaster recently. Mobile chief Executive Kazuhiro Fujita said that they got this idea after the Japan incident where they saw people suffering. They say that the pot will be used in mainly emergency conditions and people can use it for outdoor activities like travelling.

TES New Energy was set up in 2010 to promote products based on technology developed at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan’s largest public research organization.

It also makes and markets equipment to transform residual heat from industrial waste furnaces into electricity. The company says the pot will be used mainly in emergency situations, for outdoor activities and also has uses in developing countries.

Director and co-developer Ryoji Funahashi said “Unlike a solar power generator, our pot can be used regardless of time of day and weather while its small size allows people to easily carry it in a bag in case of evacuation”.

iPhone 4S/5 and Apple’s FaceTime video chat service holds a great promising year ahead. 9to5Mac revealed on their site that iPhone 4S/5 has reached its final testing stage that has been carried out by Apple and carrier executive.

Not only this even the site has informed that Apple and Verizon are working out to support for 3G FaceTime calls and over-the-air updates for iOS 5.

According to 9to5Mac:

The next generation iPhone has reached the final testing stage (aka “AP” stage [Thanks, Chronic!]) and is now being carried around by high level Apple and carrier executives.

Although this has been assumed since the no-iPhone-at-WWDC-rumors broke, the current plan is for a September launch for the next-generation iPhone.

Apple and Verizon have yet to strike a deal regarding FaceTime over 3G for the Verizon network. Keep in mind that 3G and 4G aren’t the same thing. < Don’t read into that too much. Or maybe do.

Apple and Verizon are still working out kinks regarding support for iOS 5?s over-the-air updates, which we broke the news about, so carrier support may or may not be delayed past fall 2011.

iWeb will not be there after June 30, 2012. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has confirmed the discontinuation of iWeb through email. Now the iWeb user has to find alternate hosting for their sites once MobileMe is officially discontinued.

According to MacRumors:

“One concerned iWeb/MobileMe user emailed Apple CEO Steve Jobs to ask about the fate of the offering, and reportedly received confirmation that users will indeed need to find alternative hosting for their sites once MobileMe is officially discontinued. All existing MobileMe users have received free subscription extensions through June 30, 2012, at which time the service will cease to exist and the transition to iCloud will be complete.”

Is not unusual side to see Steve Jobs replying to such email. Even the site has examined the email headers and found them to be legitimate. iWeb last major update was with the release of iLife ’09 in January 2009 and most recent update was to bug fixes in February this year.

There is a great news for international travelers because Apple will finally start rolling factory unlocked iPhones in the U.S. from Wednesday. This unlocked iPhones are highly popular among travelers who need to frequently switch SIM cards to avoid the high international roaming charges.

- iPhone 4 doesn’t support T-Mobile’s 3G network, so it will work only over its slow EDGE network.
- iPhone 5 is expected to be released in the next few months. We’ve also heard rumors that the next generation iPhone may support T-Mobile’s 3G network.

Reports are coming up that on Wednesday Apple will released new MacBook Airs and announce its yearly Back to School promotion. Earlier this school promotion was announced on May 25th in 2010, May 29th in 2009, and June 3rd in 2008 and the days were Tuesday. Rumors are circulating that Apple will offer a free iPod touch or possibly a $200 iPad discount with the purchase of a Mac.

We have been expecting that Apple will announced the integration of Nuance voice technology into iOS 5 at Worldwide Developers Conference but the Cupertino Company has not mention of Nuance during the keynote. Here, a screenshots showing Nuance integration in iOS 5 has been posted by Chronic with the help of Sonny Dickson.

According to iClarified:

Multiple sources reiterated that they still believed Apple was working with Nuance and perhaps negotiations weren’t complete or the feature wasn’t yet ready for the iOS 5 unveiling. Supporting this was the finding of Nuance in Mac OS X Lion and the attendance of Nuance’s Chief Mobile Technology Architect at the keynote.

Now Chronic and Sonny Dickson have posted definitive proof that Apple is indeed working with Nuance. An internal settings menu reveals Nuance Dictation and Nuance Long Endpoi… switches for the Springboard. Another settings menu reveals Mic on space key, Auto-Record Input and other toggles

Comex, the jailbreak hacker who developed the popular website JailbreakMe to jailbreak iOS 4.0.x has updated the site. JailbreakMe is the popular browser based jailbreak tool

The site revealed that a new version of JailbreakMe 2.0 probably a JailbreakMe 3.0 will be out soon.

Earlier Comex revealed that it has successfully jailbroken iPad 2 as when it was released but Apple was quick to fix iPad 2 jailbreak vulnerability in iOS 4.3.1.

According to iClarified site:

Earlier today Comex tweeted a teaser image that shows a ski slope and a sign with black diamond and PDF symbols. The ski slope and diamond icon could be a reference to ‘alpine’ which is the default password for root access on iOS. The PDF could be a reference to the previous PDF exploit Comex uncovered in iOS 4.0 (JailbreakMe 2.0).

So far Comex didn’t mention any thing about new version of JailbreakMe which can support iPad 2 jailbreak. Many users are anxiously waiting to Jailbreak iPad 2; there have been a news update and rumors of possibility to jailbreak iPad 2.

iPhone the most popular smartphone on the planet which has set many records is now going on board Space Shuttle Atlantis . Here, a pair of iPhone has got NASA stamp approval for shuttle mission. This device will run an experimental app developed by Odyssey Space Research.

According to modmyi:

“Odyssey Space Research (OSR) app, SpaceLab, will help the crew members conduct experiments using the iphones’ cameras, gyroscopes, and accelerometers.”

According to OSR CEO Brian Rishikof:

The iPhone 4′s debut was the inspiration for the SpaceLab App, mainly because of the included Gyroscope. Because of this added functionality it became possible to develop programs that could possibly determine a vehicles orientation in space. It’s no surprise then that OSR develops space navigational systems.

The four experiments will be:
- A “limb tracker,” which lets astronauts take a picture of the Earth’s limb (its curved edge). The app then estimates the iPhone’s altitude.
- A sensor calibration tool that uses camera images plus multiple sensors to calibrate the phone’s gyroscope and accelerometers.
- Latitude and longitude estimation using photos of the Earth and matching them to wireframes of coastlines.
- A test to see if space radiation affects computer memory by watching for unintended changes to single bits in the iPhones’ RAM.
