App Review : Ghost Capture

ghost-camera-review-theapplebites2Creepy isn’t it? I know Halloween is weeks behind us, but a nice piece of iPhone software is welcome throughout the entire year.

Ghost capture is a simple app which allows you to add a set of creepy ghosts to any picture. Pictures can either be loaded from your cameraroll or you can take a picture with a build-in camera. There are 10 ghosts to choose from.

You can save images to your iPhone and send them by mail.

The only way in which this app flaws is that images you load will be resized and cropped. This is a measure taken to prevent crashes and high memory usage. Other than that it’s a very good iPhone app for freaking out friends. When I tried it, I fooled 2 friends into thinking that one of the pictures was real.

So overall a very good app, but it’s something you will play with for a few days and then never look at again. But it’s free, so definitely worth the download.

Available for free at the App Store.

App Review : iBlast Moki

Blast Moki is a first-time game from developers Godzilab. And as a first time games developer you have to at least try to stand out from the crowd.. At very least by being creative and original otherwise your app will linger in the app-void for many many years.

Does iBlast Moki accomplish that? Yes!

The game-play is simple : move your Mokis (cute balloon-type bubbles) from point A to point B where point B is a vortex. The catch..?..well you have to use ropes, bombs, screws, wheels, balloons in order to safely get the Mokis home. Keep in mind that bombs can be set with a time delay before exploding.

There are six beautifully rendered worlds (70 levels in 6 worlds) that are a joy to look at as well as a level editor should you be inspired to create your own puzzle as I was. The music and sound effects work a treat, and I did feel sorry for the Moki when he yelped while being blasted.. but what fun I had.

iBlast Moki has everything you want in a puzzler. Cute graphics. Nice music. Re-playability. On-line scores. Level editor. In short this is a great game to add to your collection and at the current price of only $1.99 and having hours of enjoyment you simply cant go wrong.

App Review: Ynth

Ynth is a 2-d platform puzzler in which you, as a small bug, must rotate a box (with mazes in them and sometimes filled with various obstacles) across a marshland while avoiding other various falling obstacles. In order to progress it involves you tipping these boxes over by touching on-screen buttons(left or right) in order for you to direct your bug safely to a corner before pushing the same block towards your goal.

Additional elements, such as one way doors and springs add to the difficulty in later levels.

The game controls and artwork are simple and work well. You can jump left/right or (if you are against a wall) rotate the box you are in 90 degrees again either to the left/right.Falling will kill you unless its a height of no more than 2 levels high. The mud, if fallen into, can also kill you.

The game-play is good but some of these levels are very long with many blocks to move, and having to re-start all the way from the beginning when you’ve made a small mistake a few turns away from your exit can be incredibly frustrating. A level over-view would be nice at the beginning of the level so you can at least see how far to go or plan your moves.

Ynth is a good game that could be a great game. It certainly is worth a try if you looking for a different action puzzler.

App Review – Billing: Credit Card Terminal

Every since iPhone has been launched, there has been so many great things which gets our woo-wwows. Here’s yet another feature on the iPhone. It’s Billing: Credit Card Terminal this time – anyone with Authorize.net account can now process Credit Card right from the iPhone.

Billing is a virtual credit card point-of-sale terminal. Billing turns your iPhone into mobile virtual terminal for charing customers’ credit cards. It’s not like people are not able to process credit cards without an iPhone or computer, but Billing gives these people power of real-time authorization by letting them know immediately if there is an issue with getting payment from a credit card.

Billing application is a great example how your handy little phone can not only help you contact customers, but take their payments as well.

Personally I found this as a complete virtual credit card terminal app. It has a great and innovative look and feel. Added features are – users can add tips, capture virtual signature(I didn’t find this in any other app in same category), e-mail receipts, history of transactions etc.
Also, I noticed the processing wait status wasn’t available on other app of same category which is there in this app. Features like copy-paste, Paypal support etc would be great.
I used Billing this past week to process few credit cards and it worked flawlessly. Who doesn’t loves an app which works as you want it to be and doesn’t crashes? There are actually very less apps which are well fixed.

It’s available on an one time payment of $19.99 in the AppStore[link].

App Review: Adrenaline

by tABStaff 10 August 2009 apple

Good things come in small, cheap packages.  I was thoroughly surprised by the number of games included in Adrenaline, as well as their quality.  Don’t be put off by the first few games, which are admittedly simple – “Pop the Bubbles,” and so on. As they progress, gameplay becomes significantly more inspired.  With 36 games [...]

App Review: Fire Tail 2

by tABStaff 10 August 2009 apple

With gameplay reminiscent of JezzBall and Snake, this fresh twist on the box-making genre does it all right.  Like its predecessors, you are tasked with drawing lines across the playing field to close it off, bit by bit.  Controls are simple and responsive – I prefer swipe controls, but tilt is also available.  Unlike JezzBall, [...]
