iPhone virtual SIM Card

On 3 November 2011, the US Patent & Trademark Office published a new patent. According to the new patent, Apple is working on a new iPhone that will operate using a virtual Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Card. Apple has said that providing improved ways to provide users, the ability to purchase and use wireless network services without SIM Card would desirable.

The patent of Apple shows two embodiments of a hardware architecture for a “virtual” SIM Card. According to the sketches and figures submitted at Patents office, SIM accessory device can enable inter alia, transitional embodiments and support for legacy architectures.

Legacy embodiments may find patticular value when frequent SIM-card “swappers” adopt them. Carriers that are slow might resist the upgrading for their existing system.

Leaked: Boy Genius Report gets hold of iOS 4.3.2

According to the latest report, BGR has succeeded in getting the unreleased iOS 4.3.2 update installed on their iPhone.

BGR reveal:

“ Here, from our Apple sources has just let us know that Apple’s iOS 4.3.2, due within the next week or so, will fix the issues we’ve been hearing about with some Verizon iPad 2 models. Additionally, the new update is said to contain a fix for FaceTime in addition to security fixes for things like WebKit vulnerabilities and other minor changes. We’ve loaded up iOS 4.3.2 on our iPhone, and we’ll let you know if we notice any other changes.”

It was learn that Apple is placed ahead of Blackberry in worldwide phone shipments. Apple shipped 20% more iPhones than RIM during Q3 2010, according to Strategy Analytics. PC World got a look at the report and says:

“With the shipments, Apple grabbed a 15.4 percent share of the market during the period, while RIM finished well behind with a 12.3 percent share. Top dog in the kennel, though, remains Nokia with 26.5 percent of the worldwide market.”

With Apple adding global distribution channels all of the day, not mention the increased chances we might see a Verizon iPhone next year and it is possible that we might soon see a better numbers coming out of Cupertino?

Could they ever overtake Nokia, the current top-dog in the mobile space?
