Netflix has just added a streaming-only option, but it’s not available to all US subscribers. Formerly it was available in Canada. But we can expect potentially available in the US by the end of the year

It was also heard that some subscribers are already being offered the disc-free option for $7.99. Notice I said, “Some,” because here in SoCal, I’m still being offered the same old options from Netflix as of Saturday night.

The streaming-only option works on Apple devices like iPad, iPhone, Apple TV and computers, plus Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, Roku and PlayStation 3. It looks like Netflix is ready to capitalize on the growing popularity of mobile devices and is adapting to the viewing habits of its customers.

We’ll keep up with how this program rolls out to Netflix customers across the country.

Boy Genius post provokes an exciting rumor. They’ve posted an image of a product mockup for a forthcoming touchscreen remote that may be launched with an updated Apple TV. While the mockup appears to show a rather sophisticated device that initially seems hard to believe, the report notes that the source providing the image is the same one who accurately offered information on iTunes 9′s iPhone home screen organization and social networking features.
