These countries include, Taiwan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Chile, Malaysia, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and more.

Apple May Build Data Center in Oregon
Apple is planning to buy land in Oregon. It is being said that Apple intends to build a new data center there. The piece of land is 160-acres in Prineville, Oregon. It is a one-fourth mile from one of Facebook’s data centers. Thought the decision has not been finalized yet, Apple has until the end of the month to make a decision on whether or not to purchase the land. The proposed data center is expected to be 31-Megawatt.

When iTunes was launched, it sold one million songs in a week for 99 cents each.

You had the luxery of playing the music stored in your Music Beta by signing in with your Google account. You could listen to music on your iPhone after signing in with an app called G-Music.

An app similar to G-music, called aMusic launched by Amazon also served the same purpose. This app would have enabled you to play music in your Amazon storage locker on iOS. However, unfortunately, this cannot happen.

Due to legal issues with music industry, iTunes has nixed the idea of app for Amazon. However, G-Music is still live on iTunes.

So far music could played from Apple iCloud, Google Music Beta and Amazon Cloud Drive. However, Amazon is no longer there.

However, it is being said that aMusic app’s deletion from iCloud is temporary. It would be back after sometime.

New trojan horse can steal from your Mac
Users of Mac who are online most of the time need to be beware of a new trojan horse that may seem like normal app but once installed in your Mac, it can steal your perosnal information. This trojan horse is called DevilRobber or “OSX/Miner-D”. DevilRobber can hijack your Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) and create Bitcoin, the digital currency used to make online payments without the oversight of banking authorities. It can steal Mac user’s digital Bitcoin wallet as well. Mac users are being advised not to download softwares from any website that offers them, even if they appear legitimate. Users should download a software only from the official website of the makers of those softwares.

Newly released iPhone 4S and iOS 5 have certain features that maybe seen in the future Mac computers. In 2007, Microsoft, as well as Apple had introduced computers that responded to Multi-touch, Physics and Gestures (MPG). Microsoft introduced MPG on big computers while Apple introduced MPG on small computers.

iPhone, with on-screen keyboard and equipped with many features that were seen only in computers, years ago, came to be seen as the smallest computer by many. The idea of keyboard on screen was not appreciated by many as typing in a small keyboard was difficult.

The touch of your finger on screen types the alphabet. On iPad and iOS, keyboard offers two tricks. You can split your keyboard, hold the iPad in both hands and type with your thumbs. Keyboards also have auto correct features.

2. Artificial Intelligence – With the introduction of Siri, you are spared from the hassles of too much typing and screen touching. You can say something and Siri would prepare the text.

3. Haptics – So what if you cannot feel the keys in the on-screen keyboard? When you type, the screen understand your touch and type the alphabet you want to type. iOS 5 can set vibrations for each person in your phonebook and you would feel different types of vibrations every time so that you can know who is calling you. It can also tell you if you got a text message from a particular person.

Before iOS 5 came, sharing Apple ID was not a problem as mostly Apple ID was used to purchase content on iTunes. The problem now is that Apple is tied with many services and some of them involve your personal and private data which you may not want to share with anyone including family members.

To resolve these issues, you need take certain steps. You should use a personal Apple ID with iCloud. You do not want the online stuff of your family members to appear in your device, cluttering your stuff and confusing you about what to see and what to delete. However, the Apple ID being used to purchase stuff from iTunes and app store can be shared with family members, even with OS 5. Don not share your Apple ID that you use for iMessage as identity thieves use the stolen IDs to send spam or frivolous messages.

Trip Chowdhry with Global Equities Research has reports that Apple is on the verge of launching a HDTV in March 2011 which includes three screen sizes and price points. Chowdhry on Sunaday shared a congregate view on an expected Apple HDTV he accumulate from different developers which is most likely to be released in March 2011.

A photo claiming to be the leaked image of the next generation iPhone has been out online running on China Mobile’s 3G TD-SCDMA network.

Appleinsider reports that various Chinese new websites, including sohu.com(translation) and mydrivers.com(translation) has re-printed un-legitimate photo which shows a device similar to an iPhone 4 with China Mobile’s 3G logo. It was also known that the logo was printed in the upper right corner and running an unreleased version of Apple baseband software known as 06.10.01.

The leaked image handset does not have valid IMEI number and reports indicate that the device symbolize an evaluation model. Brian White, an analyst for Ticonderoga Securities, reports that China Mobile iPhone may “represent a watershed for Apple” thus providing the company permit to611 million wireless subscribers and more than 68 % of China wireless market.

Lodsys is facing growing risk and aggression among developers as it persists to push forward with its own actions.  This has led to an unending antagonism among its targets. It is the copyright holding company presently taking on App Store developers over their use of in app purchasing and upgrade buttons. Legal challenges were imposed on Lodsys and in the earlier week it was well-known that the first legal challenge had been brought on the lookout to nullify Lodsys’ patents including three other companies which also comprised the parent company of The New York Times.

Apple’s own permit expands to developers using its tools therefore the company has ignored all pressure to have the patents themselves invalidated. FOSS Patents now reports that “Apple (and Google, whose developer ecosystem is also being targeted by Lodsys) may actually be barred from challenging the patents by virtue of their licensing agreements already in place with Lodsys.”

More than 30,000 patents Apple and Google had licensed from Intellectual Ventures, a patent aggregator in which those companies and others had invested. Therefore a careless attempt to attack Lodsys’s patents would end them up in losing have their own license. At least to the extent to any patent they attack; more probably to all four Lodsys patents; and perhaps even to any or all. As a result, Apple may not able to straight way attack the patents themselves but only be restricted to simply shielding App Store developers in accordance to the terms and conditions of Apple’s licensing.

Lodsys’ patents are not safe by any means. CNET reports that “crowdsourcing intellectual property research firm Article One Partners has launched a series of bounties for information on prior art or other issues that could help in the effort to invalidate Lodsys’ patents.” To add to the legal challenges faced by Lodsys.

Having launched three new studies into patents held by Lodsys, Article One Partners, a business that crowdsources intellectual property (IP) offers a reward to the party/person that finds prior art, or examples of pre-existing technologies.

All of the three studies individually carries a $5,000 bounty assured to be paid out to the researchers who put forward what is reviewed to be as the “highest quality prior art” to be used in attacking Lodsys’ patents.

Funding of the bounties on Lodsys’ patents is anonymous as that information is not unveiled by Article One Partners.

iTunes and App Store considered as Apple’s cashing giants where claimed as a not so yielding source to Apple. But it has surprisingly been the major profit earner for Apple.

Many never really took Apple’s claims that the iTunes and App Store didn’t generate much profit, but Asymco blogger Horace Dediu revealed some very convincing numbers using data published by Apple during last weeks WWDC.

As estimated by Apple their digital store downloads has reached 15 billion songs, 130 million books, and 14 billion apps. Dediu pooled these numbers with standard price of songs, books and apps purchased to come up a monthly total income of $313 million versus $113 million in operating costs. That $113 million a month equates to nearly $1.3 billion a year to run the iTunes and App Stores. Still leaving about $200 million in profits even after expenses.

However, the comments by Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer that iTunes is running just over break even does make sense after analyzing just where that excess money is going. The promotional growth and traffic the App Store has seen since its conception and the growth of the iTunes store as well means more and more money must be put into development and conservation. Still $200 million in expansion and investment would be quite ridiculous. But if  you understand capital investment vs an Income Statement you will know that times of heavy investment, like say dropping $1 billion into a data facility would show iTunes and the App Store as breaking even, or taking a loss for the year.

Not having an open look at Apple’s accounting techniques and internal financial statements all this is still educated presumptions. However, at $1.3 billion in operating costs, the App Store and iTunes store generate enough income.

Here the New York Times’ Nick Bilton spoke with Benedetto Vigna, General Manager of the MEMS division of STMicroelectronics, a company that creates sensors for mobile devices to find out the answer to that question.

According to Benedetto Vigna, he expected us the following types of sensors in mobile devices in the future:

“These sensors will tell people what floor they are on in a building, or could be used to more precisely determine where you are in relation to your friends on a location-based service.”

- Heart monitors to keep tab of your health.
- Sensors to detect perspiration.
- Sensors could be used to monitor your excitement level and even mood. He explains that sensors that can detect mood and excitement will usher in an era of video games that will factor in emotion during gameplay.
- More microphones, and temperature and humidity sensors to better determine their location and surroundings.
- Some companies are working on sensors for security and privacy on mobile phones. According to him, one way to do this is to build software that detects how you hold and interact with the device — almost like a motion fingerprint. After you use a new phone for a short period of time, it will start to learn your patterns and automatically lock or unlock the phone accordingly. This could be used for more secure banking too.

Mr Vigna explains:

”Sensors will be everywhere in the next few years and will be able to help people become more conscious of the environment and our own health.”

On Friday the two members of a prominent US Senate subcommittee put forth their recommendations to Congress for new laws that could impact the likes of Apple, Google, and RIM, as reported by modmyi site. Senators John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) are encouraging a bill that would regulate consumer privacy across smartphones and the web. The lawmakers contend that the regulation is essential to impede “the practice of gathering and sharing personal user data.”

Apple Inc., Google Inc. and Facebook Inc., along with the thousands of developers who make applications for their platforms, are facing increasing scrutiny from Congress over how they collect, use and store customer information, including data gathered from smartphones and other wireless devices.

“These devices are not really phones–they are miniature computers,” said Rockefeller, chair of the Commerce Committee. “The mobile marketplace is so new, and technology is moving so quickly that many consumers do not understand the privacy implications of their actions.”
