According to report, Deutsche Telekom can lose its iPhone 4 exclusivity in Germany, when Vodafone begins selling the smartphone on Oct. 28.

Deutsche Telekom, which is T-Mobile’s parent company, is Germany’s largest mobile provider with 37 million customers in Germany. The second place is held by Vodafone which has 34.9 million and O2 has 16.3 million.

Earlier also Apple and the carriers has faced opposition to the use of exclusive contracts in Europe. In 2007, a German court ordered Deutsche Telekom to sell the iPhone unlocked and without a contract after Vodafone filed a complaint. Way back in 2008, a French court ruled that an exclusive deal between Apple and France Telecom’s Orange was in violation of local freedom of competition and pricing laws. However, after the ruling, the iPhone’s market share in France jumped to the 40 percent range.

“We want the iPhone to be available to everyone without being tied to a contract,” said Vodafone Deutschland chief executive Friedrich Joussen.

Now the latest group of of apps approval in the App Store are the custom ringtone makers for the iPhone. This are all taking into place as with the Apple’s recent changes to the App Store policies, allowing 3rd party Google Voice apps and other apps that Apple had previously banned or rejected from their mobile app marketplace.

According to Techcrunch reports that since the early days of the App Store, applications that allow users to manufacture ringtones from songs on their handsets have either inexplicably sat on hold or were outright denied. And yet, here we are; as of right now, there are no less than 5 different ringtone making apps sitting in the App Store.

It seems another segment of apps that Apple has confirmed does not directly compete with their own app and service offerings and still in the future what type of apps will pop out, for that we only need to wait and see.

Spotify for iPhone

Streaming Music service Spotify has submitted their iPhone App to the App Store for approval.

If approved, it would bring more than 6 million songs on-demand, giving you the ability to create and save ordered playlists of songs, and it will also allow you to save your favorite songs offline so you can play them even when you’re not connected to the internet which Spotify considers is the killer feature of the app.

But only problem is that its widely speculated that Apple will reject the iPhone App.

Spotify already has a desktop client and currently available in Europe where it is hugely popular. They are planning to release their desktop version to users in US sometime soon.

The streaming music service is free, however you can upgrade to Spotify’s ad-free premium service for $14 which also gives you access to their mobile apps including the iPhone app that has been submitted to Apple for approval.
