The functioning of iOS backgrounding is frequently wondered about. The iOS backgrounding is different from the traditional multitasking.

According to traditional multitasking, when you multitask on your desktop, every program you open runs. This consumes the battery of your computer and creates pressure(and possible overload) on your RAM. On the other hand, in iOS backgrounding, there are seven distinct things that apps can do in the background so that the resources can be preserved and the RAM of your computer is utilized to the maximum with the minimum chances of overload. In this way, apps can also minimize your concerns regarding limited CPU, battery and RAM.

1. Background Audio

It is easy to use local notifications with other backgrounding APIs, so that notifications can be used to something like sending a notification a user when a particular download is completed by the podcast.

6. Task Completion
Task completion allows apps that are put into background and continue to devote resources to something while in the background, for some time. iOS decides the amount of time that an app can continue to do things like this in the background, saving you from the hassle managing it. It also reduces the possibilities of limiting your data usage.

7. Fast App Switching
This API helps the apps like Alien Blue to save its state in RAM and exit. When you go back to the app, the app appears as if it was open all the time.

This app is as simple as the name ‘iSeeklaw’ is. It is extremely easy to use. All you need to do is fill in a simple form as to which area you want the attorney. Then select the field from the various options such as criminal, personal, real estate and so on. Once done, there are sub options like Personal-car accidents, medical malpractice etc. Finally you can search for legal assistance in your area or fill in the lawyer details in the form such as name, age, work experience, which isn’t advisable since too many filters do not give too many options or any options at all for the chosen area. The best way would be to select “search for all” options instead of the heavy filters.

The Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMi) at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has developed Genome Wowser, an app for looking into genomic information. The App is described as expedient, perceptive and highly portable. It can be easily downloaded from the iTunes App Store SM by any iPad user.

Similar to the planning of travel routes under Google Maps we can navigate with ease the human genome using Genome Wowser. The general use of this App is that when a particular gene name is entered in the search box it finds the gene on one of the 23 human chromosomes. Along side it displays an attractive image of its exact location among the genome’s 3 billion base pairs.

According to latest report, Publisher Conde Nast has worked out a deal with Apple to sell subscriptions for The New Yorker within its app.

“An updated version of that magazine’s iPad app gives lets users subscribe to the weekly magazine for $5.99 a month, or the equivalent of a $1.50 an issue. That’s a steep discount from the app’s old model, which only sold individual issues for $4.99 a pop.”

“Conde Nast is selling an annual subscription to the iPad app for $59.99; a yearly subscription to the print version of the magazine costs $69.95. Very important: Conde says print subscribers will get iPad access for free.”

Now more Conde Nast magazines will have their own apps soon, providing in-app subscription purchases. Some of those magazine that will include are Wired, Golf Digest, Glamour, Vanity Fair, Self, Allure and GQ. Magazines will be offered on a monthly basis will cost $19.99 for an annual subscription rate and $1.99 per-issue.

The company feels that Android Market will accomplish 425,000 apps by next August. In April. Recent new apps added by Android is 28,000; whereas, iOS only added 11,000.

Android Market’s high growth rate does not necessarily mean more revenues for developers.
