It has a credit card reader, barcode scanner and signature application… and though it’s housed in hard plastic shell so the original iPod Touch design is hidden, it’s still much more handy looking than most of the currently existing retail store checkout systems out there.
The new iPod Touch made device is meant to replace the current checkout devices in all of Apple’s retail stores either shortly before or shortly after New Year. We also believe that Apple is planning to expand the product’s area of availability, and sell it to other businesses which currently rely on “older checkout models”.
