exchange

iPhone supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, delivering push email, calendar, and contacts for business. We get only one possible Exchange-account on our iPhone. With AddExchange (for jailbroken iPhones) you get the ability to add a second Exchange-account. Unfortunately you cannot add a third or more, only two accounts at most. AddExchange can be found through Cydia. After installation you push the plus-button in the application. Then you click on Settings > Mail, Contacts, Agenda > SRV2 and add the seconds account. AddExchange is compatible with iPhone OS 3.0 or higher.

You can delete at any moment, but you’ll have to wait until AddExchange 1.1 arrives. This version should be available any time soon.

Push Gmail available for iPhone and iPod Touch

Google has now announced that it has expanded Google Sync to include availability for push e-mail for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Earlier this year, Google Sync was launched for Contacts and Google Calendar.

According to Google, new messages will normally be pushed to your phone within seconds, but this has a side-effect because push-connections uses more power than fetching at intervals, so you can expect lowered battery life, which has been discussed as a bug in the iPhone OS 3.1 in advance. Google recommends you to actually turn off push in settings, and fetch data every 30 or 60 minutes instead.
