Apple TV 4.4.3 update
Apple has released software update 4.4.3 for Apple TV 2. This update carries a new build number (9A4051) that follows the number of previous update that was released in October. The new update has supports Netflix in Mexico and also addresses the audio problem when playing sound through an optical port when yourTV Set is turned off. Siri does not work as good iPhone 3GS as it does on iPhone 4S
Siri may have been announced as an exclusive feature of iPhone 4S but can it work on older gadgets of Apple if installed? To check that, developer Ryan Patrich tried to find that out by porting Siri into iPhone 3GS. Though, Siri worked to some extent, the microphone performence was worse than the microphone performence of iPhone 4S. In simple words, you may port Siri in your iPhone 3GS to avoid buyin iPhone 4S but it might not work in your phone the way it works in iPhone 4S.

Apple tested Siri on other devices but to no avail
Did you wish you had Siri in the Apple gadgets that you purchased before iPhone 4S was released? Do you wish to port Siri into your old iPhone so that you would not need to buy iPhone 4S, just to use Siri? You should not be sure about Siri working in it as Apple had tested Siri on other devices. It was being said that Siri works perfectly on iPhone 4 and would be released in iPhone 4 soon. This not going to happen. At least Apple has not made any official announcement about this. Independent developers and engineers tested Siri on iPad and previous versions of iPhone. Some of the features worked. However, Apple does not believe that Siri working fine on iPhone 4 should be the reason for Siri to be released on iPhone 4 as it might affect the sales of iPhone 4S.

iPhone 4S pre-orders in Hong Kong sold out in ten minutes
This past Friday, the pre-orders for iPhone 4S started in Hong Kong and 14 other countries where iPhone 4S is expected to hit the stores on 11 November 2011. Within ten minutes, pre-orders were sold out, despite the fact that Siri does not speak Mandarin and Cantonese languages. Currently Siri has the knowledge English, French and German languages in its artificial intelligence. Apple has plan to add more languages including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian and Spanish.

We are talking about Apple and Google back on Capitol Hill ( Thursday). It seems the companies will again appear before a Senate committee to address the issue of privacy but this time Facebook CTO Bret Taylor will join them.

Google’s public policy director Alan Davidson, Apple’s government affairs VP Catherine Novelli and Facebook’s CTO Bret Taylor, will all meet Thursday to address the uproar over location tracking by mobile devices like iPhone & iPad. This issue has started when a location database file was discovered on the iPhone.

It’s the latest outgrowth of a mini-furor over how mobile devices make use of location-based data. The recent interest in the issue began after attention was focused on a little-known location database stored on the iPhone as well as the fact that Google and others collect location-based data to build global databases of things like traffic and the location of Wi-Fi signals. By the time Apple noted, a week later, that it was not tracking individual users and that the data customers were seeing was a locally-stored subset of a global crowdsourced database, lawsuits had been filed and regulators were already calling for hearings.

The hearing titled ‘Consumer Privacy and Protection in the Mobile Marketplace‘ is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday before the Consumer Protection and Product Safety subcommittee.

Just in a single day, 40,000 followers registered in the Facebook in a movement against corruption. This movement is initiated by Gandhian leader Anna Hazare and many pledges support to the cause is through mobile phone registration.

According to activist:

“The social media is abuzz with our movement against corruption. Thousands of people from across the country are contacting us through Facebook and Twitter. In at least 400 cities, youngsters are continuously joining in to help us with the logistics ,” said Kejriwal. Facebook has revealed that an upgraded versions of its website has been out. At present Facebook has two websites like m.facebook.com and touch.facebook.com for touch based smartphones like iDevice.

According to Lee Byron, Head of mobile products at Facebook :

“We were limited by the lowest common denominator for each site. We couldn’t use JavaScript and had device specific file size limitations on m.facebook.com. Supporting a wide array of touch phones of varying quality on touch.facebook.com limited our ability to use modern CSS and JavaScript APIs.”

“Every time we launched a new feature, we had to build it multiple times across different code bases: once for facebook.com, then again for m.facebook.com, touch.facebook.com, and in native applications as well. Honestly, we weren’t very good at doing this, so certain features were missing on different devices.”

Today at press event, Facebook has announced a new Groups. This groups aim to make things easier and brand social interaction more communal, data portability which sounds like it takes a little of the wall off Facebook’s garden, and application control, which should let you better decide who gets your data.

Here Mashable’s has got it all:

Groups are closed by default (but can be secret or open) and are designed to be spaces where small groups of friends share information, with each group controlled by the entirety of its members — an important new direction for Facebook. The group chat feature is just as it sounds; members can participate in back-and-forth IM conversations with everyone in the group at the same time.

On the data portability front, Facebook has now made it possible to download all of the content and information that you have added to Facebook. This means that you can download your photos, videos, wall posts, conversation threads and status updates.

Ultimately the Facebook update is available in US and for the other users around the globe has to wait. Only thing we can do now is to patiently wait for the announcement. May the update is on the way and when reach will proclaim the news.

Facebook reveals new Groups, data portability and application control is a post from: The Apple Bites

Ping had 1 million users milestone after two days of it’s launch. People using Ping were found reporting of receiving fraudulent messages for some days. The first and foremost thing that flashes into my mind was the security issue. And in Monday the spams of fraudulent messages were cleaned up.

No doubt it has many users that run in millions but it is not without criticism as well. People complained that Ping does not analyze a user’s entire music library. Instead, it only considers items that were purchased through the iTunes Store.

Ping has also been criticized for its lack of connectivity with other, larger, and more established social networks like the FaceBook and Twitter. Although Steve Jobs has dropped joining FaceBook because it demanded some terms that Apple cannot accept.

Hope Apple will solve problems one by one and try to achieve those milestones for which it is known.

Facebook promised to fix login for iPhone users and here is the promise, the new Facebook 3.2.2 for iPhone.

They claim it fixes the login issue, which seems to have been primarily caused by conflicts with some Jailbreak apps. Again the problem is that it is only available for users in the US at the moment. They have confirmed that they are working on making this available in other countries soon. Please do so.

Life is becoming so simple and technologically very savvy. I have recently come across an iPhone app that will allow me to remotely control watching Hulu and Netflix on my computer. Isn’t that simple?

I don’t have to go to my computer or TV to manage the channels. Now I do it by my smart iPhone.
The iPhone app, Teevox is a simple interface developed by Jong-Moon Kim from MIT University and he associated with other engineers and professors now testing for adding more features to it.

Actually Teevox is the company behind teevoxRemote, an app that allows an iPhone to be used as a remote control for Hulu and Netflix. The app allows one-touch show selection, synchronized shared viewing with a friend, and play/pause/volume control.

With Teevox, I downloaded the free app on my iPhone, just typed the code in and was fully connected.
It’s only a beginning phase for Teevox. Further implementation of both Twitter and Facebook Connect means that anyone with an iPhone and an account can start using the remote immediately.

So guys why waiting for. Try your iPhone in the new avatar of a remote control.

It took a while for the next update to come but the App Store just approved Facebook version 3.1 “4 months after version 3.0?. The previous version missed two important thing. Push Notification and contact syncing. With this new update facebook finally included these two options, something a lot of facebook users where looking for.

When you update to 3.1 you will get Push Notifications as things happen on Facebook.
