iPad and iPhone have broken records in terms of sales. That is why, it should not come as a surprise to anyone if they turn out to be among the highest used devices in the corporate world.

According to new figures from enterprise mobile services vendor Good Technology, the iPad made up 96% of the tablets activated at the 2,000 companies that use its services.

This year, many Apple products were loved and saw an increase in their sales. So let us have a look at the Apple Product Leaks of this year.

1. iPhone 4S

The pictures of some parts of iPhone surfaced on internet and people wondered what it was. Global Direct Parts called it an “iPhone 5″ . The detailed differences were found in the new antenna design. The changes were small. However, after the new iPhone was released, we all realized that what was seen on the net was first look of iPhone 4S design. That was way back in January, ten months before the release of iPhone 4S. The antenna design striking similarities with the Verizon iPhone which had not been released at the time, but the inclusion of the SIM slot meant this particular design was definitely for the iPhone 4S. Over the year, we continued to see the bits and pieces of iPhone 4S.

Later, Apple itself leaked the iPhone 4S name on iTunes beta, before the release of actual product.

2. iPad 2

Here we see the photo of a dummy model of iPad 2 that was shown at CES about 2 months before the iPad 2 was actually launched. The model was created on the basis of some leaked case designs to Chinese accessory manufacturers. This is the reason why the leaked iPhone 5 case designs seemed like a good possibility at the time.

3. iPhone 4S Camera Test

People got a fair idea of the capability of the camera in iPhone 4S. This photo was accidentally leaked by an Apple employee. The camera in iPhone 4S had clicked this photo.

4. iCloud Screenshot

This iCloud login screenshot was leaked several days before WWDC. However, it turned out to be accurate. It may have come from Apple’s internal staging area for the website. iCloud did not go live until two months later with essentially the same login screen.

5. Apple lost another iPhone

An Apple employee lost another prototype iPhone in a San Francisco bar this year. Though there were some initial doubts about the story, the San Francisco Police confirmed later that they did search for the device. The lost iPhone was never found. We are assuming that it represented a prototype iPhone 4S device. This likely explains why the prototype did not ever draw enough attention to be leaked/sold to any gadget sites.

6. Macbook Pro, Thunderbolt

The specs for the first Thunderbolt MacBook Pros got leaked, just few days before the launch.

7. Siri

The video that you are watching here was made before Siri was launched. Apple admitted that Siri had been leaked through this video. Some people doubted the accuracy of this video.

8. Fake iPhone 5 Video

This is a video of an “iPhone 5 Leak” on Apple’s website. This video amassed nearly 3 million views in YouTube ever since it was posted.

iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone most desired among kids is a post from: The Apple Bites

All right! Apple released iTunes Match on 14 November 2011. Now you can access your entire music library in iCloud on any authenticated device that runs on iOS 5. You can enable iTunes Match on your iPhone and iPad in the device’s settings.

After enabling iTunes Match, you can download and start playing at the given time on multiple devices (Apple devices).

Apple turned on iTunes Match last month. On 14 November 2011, toggle started working which was not the case last month. You need to start with enabling iTunes Match in the iTunes on your desktop. After that, you can enable the service on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. iTunes Match is also supported on Apple TV for music streaming.

However when enabled, iTunes Match would delete all the music you have stored locally. Deleted music would be replaced by iCloud tracks. Thus, when you enable iTunes Match, you would be warned to replace all the music in your device with all the music you uploaded to iCloud.

Thus, you need to follow following steps before you enable iTunes Match:

STEP1 - Create a backup of all the music that you did not get from iTunes on your computer.

STEP 2 - If your device has iOS 5, you should navigate Settings app to turn on iTunes Match. Go to the music section. iTunes Match would be found at the top of the screen. Swipe this toggle.

STEP 3 - When you swipe the toggle, you would be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. Enter them to enable your iTunes Match.

STEP 4 - You get two options once you enable iTunes Match in your device that has iOS 5. Turn on the “Show All Music” option. All the tracks that you have matched in iCloud will be viewable in your music app. You will see downloaded tracks as well as tracks from iCloud that you downloaded by tapping the cloud icon that was next to each track and album. If you leave the “Show All Music” option turned off, you would see only local music.

While using iTunes Match for the first time, you should leave “Show All Music” option turned on initially. When this option is off, you would see only that music that you have already downloaded. You can turn it off you want to hide your track list, if it becomes too long for you to see. You anyway would not want to download all the music in your device.

With automatic uploads of more music to iTunes Match, your device would refresh on its own to display the added tracks to you. If you turn on the “Show All Music” option, you will see all the available tracks that you can download.

The birth of an icon like Steve Jobs is the event of a century. Steve Jobs was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His childhood was like the childhood of any boy. Yet, he struggled, toiled, worked hard and finally created a Multi-billion dollar company that is known as Apple Inc today.

The world recognises Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak as the co-founders of Apple. However, little do people know that Jobs and Wozniak had a third partner called Ronald Wayne.

But how did Steve Jobs found his way to success? What were the achievements that made him so great?

Let us take a look at the life and accomplishments of Steve Jobs:

24 Feb 1955 - Steve Jobs was born to a Syrian Muslim father Abdulfattah Jandali and Swiss Mother. He was given for adoption. Paul and Clara Jobs are his adoptive parents.

1960 - Jobs Family relocated to Palo Alto, heart of Silicon Valley.

1972 - Steve jobs met Steve Wozniak, an employee of HP while doing a summer job in that company.

1973 - Steve Jobs spent one semester at Reed College Oregon. Later, he dropped out.

1974 - Steve Jobs got a job at Atari. Later, he went to India on a spiritual trip to seek enlightenment. Many people believe this is when he adopted Buddhist philosophy and converted to Buddhism.

1975 - Jobs and Wozniak started working on APPLE I in Jobs’ Bedroom.

1977 - Apple got incorporated by its founders and a group of venture capitalists. It Unveiled Apple II, the first PC to generate color graphics. Revenue reached $1 million.

1983 - Apple launched LISA, only to pull it 2 years later. Steve Jobs lured John Sculley away from Pepsico Inc to serve as Apple’s CEO.

1984 - Iconic 1984 Macintosh computer went on sale. The first image shown on Macintosh computer was of Disney character Scrooge McDuck, better known as Uncle Scrooge of Duck Tales.

1985 - A conflict arose between Jobs and Sculley. Jobs and Wozniak resigned from their respective positions and left Apple.

1986 - Steve Jobs started NeXT Inc, a new computer company making high end machines for Universities. Jobs also bought Pixar from George Lucas for $10 million.

1989 - First NeXT computer became available for sale with a $6500 price tag.

1991 - Apple and IBM Corp announced an alliance to develop new PC microprocessors and software. Apple unvieled portable Macs called Power Book.

1996 - Apple announced plans to buy NeXT computers. Steve Jobs was appointed as advisor to Apple.

1997- Steve Jobs became the interem CEO of Apple.

1998 - Jobs launched candy colored Imax and discontinued the Newton.

2001 - First iPod went on sale. So did OSX and iTunes. Nine months later Windows compatible iPod was launched.

2003 - iTunes music store was launched with 2 lakh songs at 99 cents each. It sold 1 million songs in first week.

2004 - Steve Jobs underwent a surgery for rare but curable form of pencreatic cancer.

2005 - Apple expanded iPod line with tiny nano and an iPod that could play video.

2007 - iPhone was released by Apple. Apple Inc dropped “Computers” from its name.

2009 - Steve Jobs announced that he was taking a 6 month leave of absence to focus on his health.

Jan 2010 - Steve Jobs unveiled thefirst iPad. iPad was looked at by critics as a giant iTouch. It sold about 1 million units in less than a month.

Aug 2011 - Apple announced the resignation of Jobs as CEO. Tim Cook became the CEO and Apple named Jobs as chairman.

5 October 2011 - Steve Jobs died at 56.

7 October 2011 - Steve Jobs was laid to rest. Funeral was attended by many friends, celebrities, corporates and politicians like Bono, Bill Clinton, Larry Page, Bill Gates and Rupert Murdoch.

14 October 2011 - iPhone 4S got released in USA, Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany and Japan.

19 October 2011 - Apple Inc celebrated the life of Steve Jobs.

Apple announced that by the end of 2011, iPhone 4S would be available in 70 countries.

Aftermath of Steve Jobs’ demise:

Corporates, politicians and celebrities expressed grief over the death of Steve Jobs. Rolling Stone magazine put him on the cover, making his first girlfriend Chrisann Brennan write an article on him, exploring his romantic side. Fans came up with new and innovative ways of paying tribute to Jobs.

Arab nations were quick to claim Steve Jobs as an Arab, conveniently ignoring the fact that Jobs’ Arab father Abdulfattah Jandali did not play any role in the life of Steve Jobs. For years, Jandali had been accused of abandoning Steve Jobs as a child and one section of media criticized him for the same. However, Jandali says that his father-in-law hated him because he was a Muslim. He did not like his daughter marrying a Muslim. That is why, Jandali’s Christian wife (biological mother of Steve Jobs) gave Jobs for adoption due to the hatred from her father and never told her husband where she had given the baby for adoption. However, one section of media continued to criticize Jandali, reasoning that even after knowing that Jobs was his son, he did not make any attempt to bond with him. Jandali says that he learnt about Steve Jobs being his son years later, when Jobs had achieved fame and an identity for himself.

Newly released iPhone 4S and iOS 5 have certain features that maybe seen in the future Mac computers. In 2007, Microsoft, as well as Apple had introduced computers that responded to Multi-touch, Physics and Gestures (MPG). Microsoft introduced MPG on big computers while Apple introduced MPG on small computers.

1. Better Keyboard – You do not need to carry the load of a keyboard or worry about the proper place to keep it as keyboard in iPad is a software. The touch of your finger on screen types the alphabet. On iPad and iOS, keyboard offers two tricks. You can split your keyboard, hold the iPad in both hands and type with your thumbs. Keyboards also have auto correct features.

2. Artificial Intelligence – With the introduction of Siri, you are spared from the hassles of too much typing and screen touching. You can say something and Siri would prepare the text.

3. Haptics – So what if you cannot feel the keys in the on-screen keyboard? When you type, the screen understand your touch and type the alphabet you want to type. iOS 5 can set vibrations for each person in your phonebook and you would feel different types of vibrations every time so that you can know who is calling you. It can also tell you if you got a text message from a particular person.

A whole bunch of manufacturers are busy trying to create a killer tablet to be able to compete with the iPad. And for many of those manufacturers Google’s Android operating system is the way to go. The hopes are high, since Android already managed to take the leading market share in the smartphone market. A few years ago Apple’s iOS reigned supreme, but was forcefully dethroned by a never-ending series of competitive Android smartphones. But is the tablet business that comparable to the smartphone industry? And shouldn’t we compare it to a much older case, that isn’t that positive for other manufacturers but perhaps fits the bill way better?

The smartphone has existed for a very long time. I’m sure you can remember the first Blackberries, Symbians and Windows Mobile devices? If we look back at those now they seem rather pathetic compared to what we have today but still there was nothing better at that time. The businessmen chose a phone on any of these platforms and the average joe loved his Nokia, Samsung or Motorola dumbphone. And then Apple popped up with once again another smartphone, the iPhone. Initially not a success but it prove to be useful by being easier to work with and after all successful by targeting the right people. Google and other tech companies noticed this and also agreed that the smartphone landscape looked rather dull. So Google conquered many (mainly dumbphone) manufacturers with the open Android operation system and Microsoft completely threw out Windows Mobile and exchanged it for Windows Phone. The manufacturers that produced phones with these systems already proved to be trustworthy by having provided cellphones to the crowd for many years. Together with mainly Android it was a matter of making people dump their old dumbphone for a slightly more expensive smartphone. By creating a plethora of Android devices in all sizes, colors and prices the big manufacturers together with Google managed to launch Android to the top of the smartphone charts.

Since it are once again the same major players which are facing each other, isn’t it logical that the outcome will once again be the same for the tablet market? Not necessarily. Which brings me to that other market, the market of the portable media players.

When the iPod arrived it was revolutionary because it allowed people to store a lot of music on such a small device and take it everywhere with them. There were MP3 players before the iPod, but they were hardly capable of storing twenty tracks and suddenly there’s a device which allows people to take hundreds and later thousands of songs with them. The iPod was there to stay. There was no longer such thing as an MP3 player, there were only iPods. If you didn’t have an iPod you had nothing. This resulted in the competition trying very hard to compete with the iPod with decently working devices, but to no avail. They couldn’t do a thing, everyone wanted an iPod and nothing else. And since the iPod defined the pricing in its field, the steep price of early iPods was not an issue. Before Apple there was no brand which really excelled in this market.

Does this story ring a bell? 2010, Apple launched a wholly “new” device, the iPad. Just as in the Portable Media Player market, there were no real competitors. There were tablets before the iPad, but they were slow, unpractical and didn’t have a dedicated operating system. In addition to the physical flaws, they lacked marketing power to break through. Nowadays nearly everyone wants an iPad, there is no such thing as “a tablet” for the average joe. There are only iPads. Only after a year, the competition decided to wake up and do something about the iPad’s reign. They begin their attempts to launch competitive tablets similar to the iPad, but based on Android or their own OS. Outside the tech world, not a single soul notices. Kids and youngsters still go to the store and either want an iPad or nothing at all. Elder folks get the advice to get an iPad instead of a PC because it’s easier to work with. Where the iPhone was expensive in its segment, the iPad is decisive for the pricing of the entire market and is relatively cheap.
And why would people try a different brand if all of their friends are happy iPad users? Why run the risk of buying something unfamiliar to you and with no guarantee that it will actually work?

The iPad solidifies its position just like the iPod did, as a revolutionary device that succeeded into defining the market. There are no real predecessors and the competition doesn’t seem to get a hold of the market at all, notwithstanding serious marketing- and brand awareness attempts by carriers and manufacturers. The most visible tablet in advertising and promo actions must be the Samsung Galaxy Tab. But the non-tech folks simply don’t care. “What’s that? That’s not an iPad! Who can convince me that it actually works?”. Where the iPhone wasn’t really defining for the smartphone market, the iPad has become one with the tablet market, just like the iPod did when it comes to portable media players.

So is it too little too late for the other manufacturers? Is there still a chance that a killer tablet will beat the iPad? Only time will tell, but if you ask me it’s indeed too late. Just like in the iPod case Apple will maintain the top market share while the competition fruitlessly fights for recognition with highly comparable devices.

The Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMi) at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has developed Genome Wowser, an app for looking into genomic information. The App is described as expedient, perceptive and highly portable. It can be easily downloaded from the iTunes App Store SM by any iPad user.

Similar to the planning of travel routes under Google Maps we can navigate with ease the human genome using Genome Wowser. The general use of this App is that when a particular gene name is entered in the search box it finds the gene on one of the 23 human chromosomes. Along side it displays an attractive image of its exact location among the genome’s 3 billion base pairs.

Footnotes added by researchers provide an overview of the gene’s suspected biological functions and possible mutations and variants. The  chromosome region can be zoomed into by pinching and spreading the screen.

Peter White the director of CBMi summarized the App as an initiative to create closeness towards the human genome and as a interactive and easy to use App.

Andrea Oliva has submitted a new Cydia tweak for the iDevice called as FolderLock. This jailbreak app provides user the power to password lock your folders on the iDevice.

According to modmyi:

“Settings for FolderLock are located in the Settings.app under its name FolderLock. The settings are pretty simple with an Enable/Disable switch and Insert password. A Protect Options section has some toggles for protecting the Settings.app, Spotlight, and Multitasking. Andrea gives a word of warning in regards to two particular applications; Settings.app and Cydia.app.”

Don’t put the Settings.app or Cydia.app inside a folder. If you forget your password and can’t access both of these applications, then it makes things much more difficult. If this does happen however, you can remove FolderLock via SSH (/Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries). SBSettings allows you to disable it also.

FolderLock has been submitted to the BigBoss repo and should be available soon. Upon release, you can get the jailbreak app on Cydia Store for $1.59.

Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka announced that Angry Birds has been downloaded over 200 million times across all platforms. Angry Birds has been recognized as the top paid for game in Apple’s App Store in a record 67 territories worldwide.

According to Business Insider, Vesterbacka made the announcement at the paidContent Mobile conferenc

On top of the app’s success, Vesterbacka says an Angry Birds book will launch this summer with distribution through Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Google. Plus, the company is working with animators for its own Angry Birds movie.

Lot of people are expecting Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC 2011) to be quite different then other year which is set for June – announcements for iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion and also the company launch of its cloud-based music streaming service called as iCloud. Thier claims:

Hunt-and-peck typing “hijacks” the thinking part of your brain, making it unavailable for more important tasks. Your brain is monopolized by having to ask a series of questions and issue a series of instructions: “Where is the ‘W’? Touch that spot.” “Where is the ‘H’? Touch that spot.”

He also points out the following issues with the virtual keyboard:

That’s because the touch-screen is super-sensitive, so it’s impossible for you to lightly rest your fingers on the virtual keys without typing the characters. And the keys themselves are just images, so you can’t know by feel alone where your fingers are on the keyboard.

Instead, you must suspend your fingers over the screen and must keep your eyes on the virtual keyboard—at all times—to know where to type. So the only kind of typing you can do is the two-fingered, hunt-and-peck variety.

He explained on iPad accessory that can address this problem & how it works:

My solution is to provide the feedback missing from a virtual keyboard by “grafting,” or piggybacking, a real keyboard onto the screen. My invention—the iKeyboard—will sit atop the virtual keyboard and be lightweight. It will add little bulk and not increase the footprint of the tablet. It will be easy and fast to deploy and remove.The iKeyboard will improve accuracy and typing speed, letting tablet users do real writing. It will set the brain free. In certain settings—the lecture hall, the library, the classroom—the iKeyboard will be an essential tool rather than just a useful accessory.

According to latest report, Publisher Conde Nast has worked out a deal with Apple to sell subscriptions for The New Yorker within its app.

“An updated version of that magazine’s iPad app gives lets users subscribe to the weekly magazine for $5.99 a month, or the equivalent of a $1.50 an issue. That’s a steep discount from the app’s old model, which only sold individual issues for $4.99 a pop.”

“Conde Nast is selling an annual subscription to the iPad app for $59.99; a yearly subscription to the print version of the magazine costs $69.95. Very important: Conde says print subscribers will get iPad access for free.”

Now more Conde Nast magazines will have their own apps soon, providing in-app subscription purchases. Some of those magazine that will include are Wired, Golf Digest, Glamour, Vanity Fair, Self, Allure and GQ. Magazines will be offered on a monthly basis will cost $19.99 for an annual subscription rate and $1.99 per-issue.

The developer has added only Five social medias outlets which seems minimal. There are many top social media outlets like StumbleUpon, Delicious, Flickr and list goes on. May be the developer just wanted to finish it soon and watch Soccer or Desperate Housewives. The app look simple but hard to use.

I can mange all the problem if it was a free app but considering $1.99 is too much for this app.
If I had known earlier that it was sort of problem then i won’t waste my iOS device space. Wanted to write more on this app but the link error has stop me from going any further.

Financial Times is on the verge of negotiations with Apple over its new in-app purchasing terms that will be enforced starting June. Well Apple is demanding that all subscription sales be offered via in-app purchase. But here the Financial Times is still not ready to give up its access to customer data.

“We’re still in discussions with them,” FT product management head Mary Beth Christie told paidContent:UK at World E-reading Congress in London on Tuesday morning. “We’ll see where they go. But we are fixed on the idea of holding on to our consumer data.”

In 2010, the iPad contributed about 10% to the FT’s new digital subscriptions. if not being able to sell subscriptions via their iOS app would be a significant setback.

Recently Conde Nast has announced that it has reached an agreement to bring eight of its magazines to the iPad via in-app subscriptions.

Apple has provided United States House Representative Edward J. Markey with a 13 page letter detailing its use of location information. Earlier we have also posted about Apple iPhone location tracking information.

Here at Senator Al Franken’s hearing on location privacy, Apple’s Bud Tribble made the following statements:

Apple is deeply committed to protecting the privacy of our customers. We do not share personal information with third parties without our customers’ specific consent. And we make our partners agree to certain strictures around protecting their privacy.

Using stored information can speed up determining its location. Apple maintains a crowdsourced database of Wi-Fi hot spots and cell towers.

By design, Apple gives customers control, and has built a master location switch. Users simply switch the location services switch off. When off, the device will not collect location information. Apple does not receive any data without first obtaining consent from a simple pop-up box. The pop-up box is not optional.

Apple responds to all concerns about privacy that may arise. Apple was never tracking individuals’ locations. The location data gathered was not the location of the iPhone, but about the hotspots and cell towers nearby. It was protected from access by other apps on the phone.

While we were investigating the cache we discovered a bug that allowed the data to be updated even when the location master switch was off.

Apple is committed to giving customers strong and clear choices in how their data is used. We share the committee’s concerns about collection and privacy of customer data, especially location.

The letter posted here was sent via email and hand delivery to Markey and contains Apple response to a letter from Market dated April 21, 2011. It provides answers to numerous questions about how Appel gathers and uses location information.

After keeping mum for few days on iPhone location tracking issue, finally Apple has officially responded.

According to iphone Hacks:

Apple has clarified that it is not tracking the location of the iPhone or iPad 3G as reported by Security researchers last week. Apple has also confirmed that it has never done so and has no plans to ever do so.

Apple has answered all the relevant questions regarding the location tracking issue in a Q&A form. So if you were worried about the issue then check the Q&A below:

1. Why is Apple tracking the location of my iPhone?
Apple is not tracking the location of your iPhone. Apple has never done so and has no plans to ever do so.

2. Then why is everyone so concerned about this?

Providing mobile users with fast and accurate location information while preserving their security and privacy has raised some very complex technical issues which are hard to communicate in a soundbite. Users are confused, partly because the creators of this new technology (including Apple) have not provided enough education about these issues to date.

3. Why is my iPhone logging my location?

The iPhone is not logging your location. Rather, it’s maintaining a database of Wi-Fi hotspots and cell towers around your current location, some of which may be located more than one hundred miles away from your iPhone, to help your iPhone rapidly and accurately calculate its location when requested. Calculating a phone’s location using just GPS satellite data can take up to several minutes. iPhone can reduce this time to just a few seconds by using Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data to quickly find GPS satellites, and even triangulate its location using just Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data when GPS is not available (such as indoors or in basements). These calculations are performed live on the iPhone using a crowd-sourced database of Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data that is generated by tens of millions of iPhones sending the geo-tagged locations of nearby Wi-Fi hotspots and cell towers in an anonymous and encrypted form to Apple.

4. Is this crowd-sourced database stored on the iPhone?

The entire crowd-sourced database is too big to store on an iPhone, so we download an appropriate subset (cache) onto each iPhone. This cache is protected but not encrypted, and is backed up in iTunes whenever you back up your iPhone. The backup is encrypted or not, depending on the user settings in iTunes. The location data that researchers are seeing on the iPhone is not the past or present location of the iPhone, but rather the locations of Wi-Fi hotspots and cell towers surrounding the iPhone’s location, which can be more than one hundred miles away from the iPhone. We plan to cease backing up this cache in a software update coming soon (see Software Update section below).

5. Can Apple locate me based on my geo-tagged Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data?

No. This data is sent to Apple in an anonymous and encrypted form. Apple cannot identify the source of this data.

6. People have identified up to a year’s worth of location data being stored on the iPhone. Why does my iPhone need so much data in order to assist it in finding my location today?

This data is not the iPhone’s location data—it is a subset (cache) of the crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower database which is downloaded from Apple into the iPhone to assist the iPhone in rapidly and accurately calculating location. The reason the iPhone stores so much data is a bug we uncovered and plan to fix shortly (see Software Update section below). We don’t think the iPhone needs to store more than seven days of this data.

7. When I turn off Location Services, why does my iPhone sometimes continue updating its Wi-Fi and cell tower data from Apple’s crowd-sourced database? It shouldn’t. This is a bug, which we plan to fix shortly (see Software Update section below).

8. What other location data is Apple collecting from the iPhone besides crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data?

Apple is now collecting anonymous traffic data to build a crowd-sourced traffic database with the goal of providing iPhone users an improved traffic service in the next couple of years.

9. Does Apple currently provide any data collected from iPhones to third parties? We provide anonymous crash logs from users that have opted in to third-party developers to help them debug their apps. Our iAds advertising system can use location as a factor in targeting ads. Location is not shared with any third party or ad unless the user explicitly approves giving the current location to the current ad (for example, to request the ad locate the Target store nearest them).

10. Does Apple believe that personal information security and privacy are important?

Yes, we strongly do. For example, iPhone was the first to ask users to give their permission for each and every app that wanted to use location. Apple will continue to be one of the leaders in strengthening personal information security and privacy.

Software Update

Sometime in the next few weeks Apple will release a free iOS software update that:

reduces the size of the crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower database cached on the iPhone,
ceases backing up this cache, and
deletes this cache entirely when Location Services is turned off.

Now this should answer questions raised by privacy regulators in South Korea, France, Italy and Germany and the US Senator. Now many people around the world are relieved that Apple isn’t tracking the location of your iPhone or iPad. Do you?

A decision made earlier to give an iPad to every kindergarten student by school board’s program has came under criticism from some parents.

According to ipad.net site, School board in Auburn, Maine, recently announced the launch of a program they call “a revolution in education,” that would place an iPad in the hands of every student entering kindergarten. While some parents lauded the idea, others are raising objections, questioning whether the children are ready for the technology and if taxpayer money should be spent on this project.

The parents leading the charge are Tracey Levesque and Stella Gammaitoni, who have started a Facebook page called Auburn Citizens for responsible education to oppose the iPad program.

According to Tracey Levesque ( mother of 5 yrs. old),

“I don’t want an iPad given to him in school. ” Levesque added, “He has a hard time sitting in a chair.”The child required extra teaching to learn how to hold a book and write with a pencil and paper. “Just doing this creates an abundance of muscle strength in a child’s hand. You’re not doing that if you’re holding an iPad and touching a screen. This is where I’m coming from, the developmental standpoint.”

The mom would prefer that children learn from face-to-face interaction, hands-n activities and creative instruction. The group also has concerns about the value of spending $200,000 to purchase the iPads and train the teachers to use them, as well as being critical of the decision by the school board to implement the program without a public debate or research on the use of iPads in the classroom. It will be interesting to see whether the Auburn schools are allowed to launch this experimental plan or be shit down by parental objections, as reported by iPad.net site.

Why don’t the school board introduces separate subjects on iPad? In this way the school kids can also use iPad and learn and at the same time use pen and pencils to draw on notebooks. Both can be benefited. My suggestion.

Here are the following instructions on how to jailbreak your iPad 1 on the 4.3.2 firmware using RedSn0w for Windows.

Step 1.
First you need to create a folder on your desktop and name it Pwnage. Now download RedSn0w and place it in the Pwnage folder.

Again download the latest 4.3.2 firmware from below and place it in the same folder.
4.3.2 (iPad 1): iPad1,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw.

Now extract the RedSn0w zip file into the same folder.

Step 2.
Now launch iTunes by connecting your iPad to computer

Select your iPad from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down Shift and click the Restore button.

Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the 4.3.2 firmware ipsw. Click the Choose button to continue.

Step 3.
Once iTunes has finished updating your iPad to the desired firmware, open the Pwnage folder on your desktop and launch the redsn0w application from the redsn0w folder.

Step 4.
click the Browse button once RedSn0w opens.

Step 5.
Select the 4.3.2 firmware ipsw we placed in the Pwnage folder on our desktop then click Open.

Step 6.
Once the firmware has been verified click the Next button to continue.

Step 7.
RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data

Step 8.
From this window you can select the jailbreak options. Make sure Cydia is selected and click the Next button to continue.

Step 9.
Now plug your iPad into the computer and make sure its OFF then click the Next button.

Step 10.
RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode. You can find more help with DFU mode.

Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.

Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.

Step 11.
Now your iPad will now reboot.

Step 12.
RedSn0w will then begin uploading the new RAM Disk and Kernel.

NBA teams are using the iPad for scouting and player development and more than half the teams are either using the Apple tablet or considering it.

With the record, 10 NBA teams (Wizards, Timberwolves, Hawks, Hornets, and Rockets + 5 more) are already using iPads, now 6 more teams are considering using the iPad next season.

Washington Wizards is first known NBA team to use the Apple tablet for team operations. Assistant coach Ryan Saunders describes their iPad use:

“We use it for everything. We put our whole playbook and rulebook on it… Our whole calendar is mapped out. Guys can know when buses are leaving, when planes are leaving.”

Minnesota Timberwolves provides players with expanded edit of opposing team game play on their iPads. Being lighter, iPad has an advantage over laptops:

“A lot of times guys can wake up, or on the airplane they can open their iPad, and see what’s coming up next in terms of personnel.”

Houston Rockets describes players are impressed with the Apple tablet:

“They think it’s amazing that you can give them all their minutes from the last 20 games and have it ready for them in less than an hour, and put it on an iPad.”

New Orleans Hornets uses 20-30 iPads. The team gets each night’s game on iPads, before players leave the locker room:

“As an organization, we try to use what’s best out there… We look at costs, but we’re trying to improve and make things more efficient.

Director of Basketball Operations for Atlanta Hawks, Mike McNeive:
“It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even bring a pen and a paper to the game anymore … I just make sure my iPad is charged 100 percent.”
