According to the latest reports, Apple is on the verge of releasing the redesigned MobileMe services from next month.

According to iLounge:

“Apple is going to reveale a new, free version of MobileMe by next month, according to a trusted iLounge source. The source, has been working for a major educational institution, claims the school’s supplier has said the present version of MobileMe is no longer available, and that Apple is planning a new students sign up for the 60-day trial to cover the space between the final MobileMe shipment and the launch of the new version. The source also says that the Apple will be supporting the existing version of MobileMe for the next year, suggesting that the new version will be quite different from the existing service; the extra year of support would likely cover those who recently paid for a full year of MobileMe, prior to Apple removing any method through which a user could pay for the service.”

Apple has now announced in a support document that several changes has been made to MobileMe. Most of these changes are related to iDisk, but also Find My iPhone and Contacts have gone through an enhancement.

From now on, the iDisk public folder matches the look of me.com and it supports drag & drop of files between folders, if the owner allows it. It is also possible to set a password to certain folders from www.me.com/idisk.

Among changes in the Find My iPhone section are the ability to go directly to Find My iPhone by using the address http://www.me.com/findmyiphone and there is now a Find My iPhone icon in the MobileMe toolbar at me.com.

You can log in, or sign up for a 30 days free trial at me.com and discover all its features, or you can read more about MobileMe and its features here.
