Money matters, for shareholders.

Money makes people go round. A few weeks back share holders of Apple charged Steve Jobs for what he or his company is treasuring the stock of money. To that Mr. Steve Jobs said the money is for the emergency purpose so that in that crisis period the company doesn’t have to borrow from other sources.
Again the shareholder has raised their voice for the money. This time they have asked Apple if they are using the money usefully.

The shareholders hold that they calculate return on invested capital (ROIC) to help determine whether a company has an economic moat — the ability to earn returns on its money beyond that money’s cost.
By determining a company’s ROIC, we can see how well it’s using the cash we entrust to it, and whether it’s actually creating value for you. Simply put, ROIC divides a company’s operating profit by how the amount of investment it took to get that profit.

It seems the shareholder are trying really hard to know the how the money is being used in Apple. And Apple this time has to be transparent in this matter of Money.

It’s again a showtime for Apple!

Google did you steal something?

News is what Rupert Murdoch Corporation has been dealing with since ages. Mr. Murdoch happened to be a news himself when he claimed that Google is stealing their news and paying nothing. The atmosphere further caught fire when we found him stating that he will soon pull out his websites from Google. But Mr. Mudoch when are you going to stand by your words?

And now he spoke out his mind up for another. No this time its Apple. He yesterday announced that his news corp. is soon launching the new national digital newspaper exclusively for Apple’s iPhone, iPods and iPads. This announcement came as a direct competition to The Newyork Times, US Today and many national newspapers. He continued saying that the new digital newspaper would target a more general readership, offering short, snappy stories that could be digested quickly and would be under high senior professionals.

Lets me ask you! Is he really focused on building readership and revenue on digital platforms?
But to me he is busy brainstorming erecting a pay wall around the Times of London and announcing plans to charge for access to News Corp.’s other newspaper websites. Money can buy everything but there is something that money can’t buy.

All license to win with the iPad

The US army isn’t the only security force which has adopted Apple iOS devices for military training and operations but now UK has also started using the iPad actively to train their soldiers. The Royal School of artillery in Wiltshire is using the iPad to train soldiers about how to handle a “fire mission”, a scenario where they would be facing enemy fire several miles away from Afghanistan. Early trials have also shown troops learning various jargons and procedures quicker than before.

While the armed forces are facing cuts, it has been reported that the iPad training is good value for the money because it helps in cutting down related expenses, including printing references, guides and manuals. Most importantly it reduces the amount of training and effort which is spent doing in the cliched manner over and over again.

On Tuesday 12 January 2010, Haiti was hit by an earthquake which destroyed the capital Port-au-prince completely, left millions homeless and made more than a hundred thousand deadly victims. The people who are left behind can use all the support they need and therefore the world is coming into action. That includes the independent iPhone developers community and therefore over 60 other iPhone and Mac developers have decided to donate all revenue their apps generate on the 20th of January 2010 to a good cause which is currently aiding the Haitian people.

There are several causes to which app developers are going to donate their revenue. Some include UNICEF, Doctors without borders, …

Small developers don’t make a lot of revenue, but considering there are about 60 involved, you just know that this action will bring in a lot of money for the Haitian people.

So if you decide to buy an App, certainly check out the Indie Relief website and check to see if there isn’t an alternative that will aid Haiti.
