How to Wirelessly Sync Your iPhone With iTunes

by Tsukhiumong on March 5, 2011

in apple

May be i am not the only one who gets frustrated or annoyed with the need of connecting USB data cable to our computer and iPhone (or any other iOS device) and then sync the phone data to iTunes.

If yes then I should tell you that you are in a treat with a new Cydia store application that allows to wirelessly synchronize your iOS devices and iTunes (on Windows or Mac).

So, if you are one of those who want to get out of the trouble of finding the USB cable every time you want to sync your device, this application is for you.

Please note that a Jailbroken iPhone is required as you might have sensed already.

Step 1.
Launch Cydia from the springboard.

Step 2.
Tap on the Search tab in the bottom.

Step 3.
In the Search box, type Wi-Fi Sync.

Step 4.
Open Wi-Fi Sync.

Step 5.
Install the Cydia application on your device which comes for $9.99. The price might be on the steeper side, but it’s worth it if you have to sync your phone to iTunes on a regular basis.

Step 6.
After you have purchased the application, simply install it by tapping on install and then confirming it.

Step 7.
Now once the application is installed, open Safari from the springboard.

Step 8.
Open Wi-Fi Sync from the springboard on your device.

Step 9.
Open iTunes on your PC.

Note: You would be able to Sync your iPhone to iTunes only if both the handset and the PC are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 10.
Now, pair the device with the PC once both the applications are open and you are set to go.

Your iPhone would automatically start syncing with iTunes once both of them are paired.

Just give it a shot and let us know how you like it.

Add contact info to get your iPhone 4

How concern are you about your iPhone? Are you not scared of losing it? I am sure you are. No doubt there are many devices and applications in the market to detect your missing iPhone but installing such things requires time and money.

I have found out a simple way of insuring my iPhone. How?

First, you need an image for the lock screen’s background. You can use a photo you already have or download one from a site.

Open the cropped image in your favorite photo editor and, using its Text tool, overlay the image with some text, something along the lines of If found, return to, along with your name and phone number. (Make sure you don’t put down the number of the iPhone!) Save the picture.

Next, open iPhoto and import the image and open up iTunes and plug in your iPhone and sync.

And lastly open iPhone’s Settings app and go to Choose Wallpaper. Find and select the image you’ve just created, and then hit the home button. From now on, if someone finds your phone and turns it on, they’ll see the lock screen—with your contact information on it.

And if you are lucky enough to get a Samaritan, your dropped iPhone might come back to your hand.
It’s good, though it doesn’t provide a full fledge security to my iPhone. Rather I have to depend on my destiny for my lost iPhone. But for a chance what’s the harm on trying it.

Thanks, Macworld.com

yahoo-calendar-iphone

Until now there was no way to sync Yahoo calendar with your iPhone calendar but Yahoo wrote a blog post about how to do that over the air.

It’s very simple but it does require you to run the latest 3.0 firmware. It is also important to note that “once you start syncing your Calendar with your iPhone you will be upgraded to Yahoo! Calendar Beta automatically. You will not be able to go back to the old calendar product once this is complete”.

How to sync Yahoo calendar with the iPhone:

1. Go to Settings > Mails, Contacts, Calendars >Add Account > Other

2. Tap “Add CalDAV Account”

3 . For the Server settings, simply type “yahoo”

4. Type in your Yahoo! username and password you use to signin to your calendar.

5. Click “Next” and it should verify your information.

6. You’re done :)

Next time you open the calendar app on your iPhone, you will be able to choose to view your Yahoo calendar. Every time you will load the yahoo calendar, it will sync over the air.

Palm Pre iTunes Sync is re-working

504x_itunesprePalm has released WebOS update and iTunes Sync is re-working! This concludes that the Palm-Apple fight is to continue. Palm has struck back with WebOS update 1.1, which un-breaks Pre-iTunes coupling and adds some great new features. Read More →

Yesterday, Apple released an update for iTunes. The new iTunes 8.2.1 provides a number of important bug fixes and addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices.

According to MacRumor, in addition to bug fixes, it turns out this release is target to stop Palm Pre from syncing with iTunes:

“iTunes 8.2.1 is a free software update that provides a number of important bug fixes,” says Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris. “It also disables devices falsely pretending to be iPods, including the Palm Pre. As we’ve said before, newer versions of Apple’s iTunes software may no longer provide syncing functionality with unsupported digital media players.”

Consider as the number one competitor of iPhone, Palm Pre, when it was first debuted, comes with an ability to sync songs or other medias via Apple’s iTunes. With the release of iTunes 8.2.1, however, this sync feature does no longer work on Palm Pre.

So, how about jailbreak? Does the upgrade of iTunes 8.2.1 break jailbreak?

From my early testing on Mac, it does not break jailbroken iPhone. You can still sync with iTunes. However, if you’re planning to jailbreak your iPhone with PwnageTool or Redsn0w, please hold off the upgrade until iPhone Dev team gives the green light. Stay tuned.
