This toolkit allows developers to create, host and scale web applications.

“Last March we released the Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows Phone 7, which provided a set of generic services for Windows Azure. This toolkit was the first step in enabling developers to build native experiences on multiple platforms using Windows Azure. As the next step in this process, today we’re pleased to announce the release of the Windows Azure Toolkit for iOS. This toolkit contains resources and services designed to make it easier for iOS developers to use Windows Azure.”

Not long ago, Microsoft also announced a new Bing Maps SDK for iOS devices.

How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 Using Greenpois0n (Windows).

Here are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 using Greenpois0n for Windows. Greenpois0n has been updated to support the iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2.1 firmware. Use Limera1n if you want to jailbreak iOS 4.0, iOS 4.0.1, iOS 4.0.2.

Step 1.
Open your web browser of choice and navigate to http://www.greenpois0n.com. Click the Windows link at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2.
When prompted save the download to your desktop

Step 3.
Double click the downloaded greenpois0n-osx_rc5.zip file to extract the archive then double click greenpois0n from the desktop to launch the application

Step 4.
Connect your iPhone to the computer, power it off, then click the large Jailbreak button

Step 5.
You will now be instructed on how to place your iPhone into DFU mode.
press and hold the sleep button for 3 seconds.

Continue holding sleep; press and hold home for 10 seconds.

You will then be prompted to release the Sleep/Wake button but continue holding the Home button.

Step 6.
Once your iPhone is successfully in DFU mode the jailbreak will begin. You can release the Home button. Click the Complete button to close the application.

Step 7.
After the iPhone restarts you’ll notice a new Loader application on your Springboard. Press to launch it.

Step 8.
Press to select Cydia then press the large Install Cydia button that appears.

Step 9.
Once Cydia has installed successfully you can remove Loader by pressing the Options button then the large red Remove Loader.app button.

Step 10.
Restart your iPhone then run Cydia. Let it do all the necessary updates then follow our Unlock tutorial if possible for your device.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is running a regulatory session on Apple’s app Store developers agreement. Meanwhile, an interesting turn took up when regulators from European Union joined in.
The whole issue began when Apple in April, adjusted its agreement wording in a way that outright barred developers from using third-party development tools such as Adobe’s Flash Compiler, or in-game engines like Unity 3D.

Further in July made some modifications in the agreements the limited the third parties to glean from inside of application, which posed serious incompatibility for companies like Google’s AdMob from running its business on the iOS platform.

Similar issue did came up years back with Microsoft where it had to change the way it bundled Web browsing software in versions of Windows that were sold in European market and the European Union played a pivotal role.

At this point Apple has to wait for four or six month when these bodies in charge give any official conclusions. Tougher time for Apple though.

Not often do we review windows applications here on tAB. But for a fine Apple related app as CopyTrans we make an exception.

CopyTrans 4 is the fourth major version of the iPod Backup and media extraction application CopyTrans. With CopyTrans you can easily transfer iPod and iPhone media to your PC. As I found out myself, CopyTrans works for every type of iPod. I connected my first iPod ever, which was a first generation iPod Nano and it synced without issues.

Another remarkable feature is the ability of CopyTrans to read iPods or iPhones which are formatted for Mac OSX. This feature makes it ideal for Mac users who need extraction software on their Windows bootcamp partition. Extracting from a Mac formatted iPod or iPhone happens at the same speed as it does on a Windows formatted iPod, which is very speedy.

With CopyTrans you can extract songs, but that’s not all. You can also rebuild your iTunes library. So let’s say, your computer is bricked and you lost all your music. With CopyTrans you can just rebuild your entire iTunes library from an iPod which was previously synced with your PC.

All songs, video’s audiobooks, podcasts, etc., are extracted containing all information iTunes uses to identify them. Which means all downloaded images, lyrics, play counts and ratings are transferred as well.

The interface is very easy to use, but as a Mac user and someone who is quite enthusiastic about the decent Windows 7 Microsoft delivered I have one remark. The theme of CopyTrans is comparable to the brushed metal theme and this is nice if you like other than default themes and it’s perfectly in line with the Apple-based functionality of this application, but for once Microsoft delivered a beautiful operating system with nice themes and an eye on the aesthetics. So why not use the default transparent theme that Windows 7 supplies? It’s not a big issue, but for people who like the native Windows 7 theme this will be a bit of a downer.

Also when you download the default installer, you are presented with a shortcut to the CopyTrans control center which also shows you haven’t installed yet. WIth a simple click you can go to CopyTrans. But it’s easier to have CopyTrans open directly when you open the shortcut. The developer kindly replied to my request for more information about this decision and I found out that you can just download CopyTrans as a standalone application as well, without the control center.

All an all, this is a wonderful application with just the right amount of features and it’s built in such a way that it’s accessible to all. It works with all iPods and iPhones and does exactly what it is supposed to do. So I give it the tag, highly recommended!

My only wish left would be a Mac OSX version.

During the last couple of weeks a lot of cases have been reported where an iPod Classic crashes, in many cases beyond repair, when being hooked up to iTunes 9. The cases of which we know mostly concern iTunes 9 for Windows, but Mac OSX may also be affected by this harmful threat.

The affected iPod Classics seem to be produced about 2 years ago most of the time but there are also reports of newer iPods which crash. In most cases the iPod can’t be repaired by simply pressing the iTunes repair button and in some cases the hard drive of the iPod just crashes beyond repair.

Apple has not made a statement about this and doesn’t seem to be very keen on making one as well. So our advice is to simple try to install older versions of iTunes when you own an iPod Classic and if your iPod crashed because of this issue you can try to revive it by using recovery programs for the iPod. You can retrieve data through the terminal in Mac OSX or by directly accessing the disk from windows.

Note: Tethered Jailbreak means that your device must be connected to the computer in order to be switched on. Avoid shut downs and restarting the device. If you do that your device will be back to factory state.

While we’re waiting for iPhone Dev team to release the jailbreak tool for iPhone 3GS, let’s try the alternative way to jailbreakthe new iPhone using Purplera1n. In this post, I’ll go through step-by-step with you how you can use Purplera1n for the jailbreak.

Before we dive into the jailbreak, there are a few things you should note:

1. First, purplera1n is now still in beta and available for Windows only. For Mac user, please refer to this guide.
2. Purplera1n is designed specifically for iPhone 3GS jailbreak. Let me repeat it’s foriPhone 3GS. If you’re looking forjailbreak guide for iPhone 3G or 2G, please refer to the guide here.
3. Make sure you’re using iTunes 8.2.
4. Same as other jailbreak methods, use at your own risk (though it has been proved to work on some iPhones) and jailbreaking will void the warranty.
5. Presently, jailbreaking with Purplera1n does not support Winterboard and voipover3g.

Okay, if you have read the above points and am sure to go for jailbreaking, read on for thejailbreak procedures.

Procedures to jailbreak iPhone 3GS with Purplera1n

1. First, download purplera1n from www.purplera1n.com. You can click on the Windows icon to download the purplera1n.exe

2. Connect your iPhone 3GS via USB

3. Launch purplera1n.exe that you have just downloaded.

4. Click “Make it ra1n” button and wait. It’ll automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode, jailbreak and reboot.

5. After reboot, you should find a new icon called “Freeze” installed. Tap to launch it and tap the “Install Cydia” button to install cydia.

6. Once installation completes, reboot your iPhone.

That’s it. After reboot, you can launch Cydia and install other 3rd party applications.

Developers from iSoft, ported Windows 95 on the iPhone with the help of Bochs emulator and original win 95 image.It must be said that the boot stage lasts from 5 to 10 minutes on a 3G iPhone, which stated that they only release the emulator for iPhone 3GS.

If its a fake or not, I have no idea. Best thing we can do is to wait for one of the dudes at iSoft to get online and ask him about this. For Windows user, you can follow this guide to jailbreak the latest version of iPhone OS and enjoy the new features.

Same as the jailbreak guide for Mac user, please read through the below notes before taking action to jailbreak your iPhone:

• This jailbreak guide is designed for Windows user. For Mac user, you can refer to this jailbreak guide.
• You can use this guide to jailbreak & unlock iPhone 2G (the 1st generation iPhone)
• You can use this guide to jailbreak iPhone 3G (Please note jailbreak only. You’ll need to use ultrasn0w to unlock it.)
• If you’re using lower version of firmware (e.g. 1.1, 2.0, 2.1 or 2.2), you can also follow the jailbreak procedures to upgrade the firmware to 3.0. But please note that you’ll have to re-install all the Cydia applications after upgrade. And, at the time I write this post, not all Cydia applications (e.g. Backgrounder, iRealSMS, MySMS, BossTool, Quickgold) are compatible with iPhone 3.0. So, if you have any cydia applications that you rely on, please ensure its compatibility before upgrading.
• For iPhone 3GS user, please do not use Redsn0w to jailbreak your new iPhone. Presently, there is no way to jailbreak iPhone 3GS.

Now, let’s get started.

To jailbreak iPhone 3.0 OS on Windows, we’ll use Redsn0w to jailbreak your iPhone. Developed by iPhone Dev Team, Redsn0w is a replacement of QuickPwn to jailbreak iPhone 3.0. The jailbreak process is very straightforward that any iPhone owner can manage the jailbreak.

Preparation for Jailbreak & Unlock

1. First, make sure you have upgraded to iTunes version 8.2 and backup your iPhone data by synchronizing it with iTunes.

Tip: If you’re upgrading the iPhone from older version of firmware, make sure you sync the iPhone with iTunes. This ensures all your SMS, contacts and applications can be restored after the firmware upgrade.

2. Download Redsn0w 0.7.2 (or download from here), Bootloader 3.9 & 4.6 and iPhone firmware 3.0 (2G / 3G). Save them all in the same folder. And unzip redsn0w-win_0.7.2.zip. So make sure you have all the files in place before proceeding to next step.

Installing iPhone 3.0 OS via iTunes

3. Next, connect your iPhone to your computer via USB cable and launch iTunes. Select your iPhone in iTunes.

4. Now, hold the SHIFT key and click the “Restore” button. iTunes will launch a file dialog for you to select the firmware file. Locate the “iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw” for iPhone 2G or “iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw” for iPhone 3G that you have downloaded in step 2 and click “Open”.

5. iTunes will then restore your iPhone with firmware 3.0 (or what so called iPhone 3.0 OS). Keep your iPhone connected, don’t touch it and wait until the process completes.

Jailbreaking with Redsn0w

6. Now, your iPhone should be completely restored to firmware 3.0. But it’s not activated right now as you can see from iTunes.

So, what you’re going to do next is to use Redsn0w to activate and jailbreak it. But before proceeding to next step, please power off your iPhone (but keep it connected with USB cable).

7. Next, launch Redsn0w to start jailbreak & unlock.

8. Once launched, click the “Browse” button and select the firmware file that you have downloaded. For iPhone 2G, please locate the “iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw”. And, for iPhone 3G, please use “iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw”

Redsn0w will then verify the firmware file. If it’s correct, redsn0w will show the message “IPSW successfully identified”. Then click “Next” button to continue.

9. Next, you’ll need to select the jailbreak option. For iPhone 2G, please select both “Install Cydia” and “Unlock” option. For iPhone 3G, please only select “Install Cydia” option (actually the “Unlock” option is not available for iPhone 3G). Click “Next” button to proceed.

10. Please select the bootloader files that you have downloaded in step 2.

Note: This step is for iPhone 2G only. For iPhone 3G user, this step is skipped.

Put iPhone into DFU Mode

11. Next, redsn0w will instruct you to put your iPhone into DFU mode. Ensure your iPhone is connected (via USB) and it’s turned OFF. If you’re ready, click “Next” to continue.

12. Follow the instructions to put your iPhone into DFU mode.

Tip: You may not be able to put the iPhone into DFU mode for the first trial. Don’t worry. Simply click the “Back” button to go back and try to follow the instructions again. Redsn0w will start the jailbreak process only if it detects your iPhone is properly put into DFU mode.

13. If you have successfully put the iPhone into DFU mode, redsn0w will automatically start the jailbreak process.

14. While jailbreaking, your iPhone will show downloading jailbreak data, flashing NOR, etc. And, just don’t touch your iPhone and keep waiting.

15. Once completed, redsn0w will let you know the jailbreak process is successful. Your iPhone will be restarted and automatically launch BootNeuter to perform unlock. This process will take 3-5 minutes to complete. Be patient. When complete, your iPhone will be rebooted.

16. Congratulation, you’ve completed the jailbreak process for iPhone 3.0 OS. As you can see from the home screen, you now get the new Voice memo application, which is introduced in iPhone 3.0.

17. Lastly, sync back your backup data with iTunes and restore all your contacts & SMS.
